Observed since the early-1900s, International Women’s Day (March 8) is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. It is a day of collective global celebration, and a call for gender parity. Many organisations declare an annual IWD theme that supports their specific agenda or cause. This year, Ricoh India ran a campaign on the theme of #SheShines.
Modern women are often the cornerstone of progress, be it at home or office. However, there is not enough appreciation of the talent and hard work put in by women employees. It is not that women want to be placed on a higher pedestal, but they do expect the same things that men desire – mutual respect, more challenges, recognition, growth, and work-life balance.
Ricoh decided it was time to remind women in the organisation that they can shine as bright as any man. To give wings to this change, CXOs were invited to nominate their choice of the best female employee in the organisation. This took the form of a contest that ran from 4th to 9th March,
with one lucky nominee winning an exciting prize in the shape of Ricoh’s bestselling jam-free multifunction printer, SP 111 SU.
A microsite and a video were created for this campaign, with social media promotion aimed at seeking nominations for the #SheShines #Contest.
We received an overwhelming response, and the winner of the
contest was Manisha Patel, who works as Accounts & Administration Executive with Verve Systems Pvt. Ltd. This is what her delighted CEO, Nitin Bawsay, has to say about Manisha – “She is actively involved and takes initiatives. She is the one on whom everyone banks when it comes to actions.”
